In truth, 7.635% is deducted from your paycheck.  Of that amount 1.635% is for Medicare.  The other 6% is for FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act money that everyone refers to as Social Security).  Your employer also contributes an equal amount to both funds (FICA and Medicare).  That is how Social Security and Medicare are funded.  On the other hand though Medicaid does come out of the general fund (which is funded by the FIT - Federal Income Tax which too comes out of your payroll check - and all the other taxes that the Federal government imposes to fill it's coffers).  In other words Medicaid is part of the budgetary process, whereas FICA and Medicare payments are not.

This was a neat little quiz.  I got 10 out of the 11 right.  If you look at the left column at the end of the quiz, you can click on a tab "How You Did Question by Question" and that will give you a break down of the questions you answered correctly.  And then at the bottom of THAT page, you can find a link called "Read the Report" that goes into a nice article on what the quiz means and how the results pan out.
