{Political_Views} Pawlenty Says Tax and Budget Cuts Will Spur Growth

More of the same Republicant talking points, but where's the proof?  Shrubs' tax cuts have been in effect for at least 8 years now and some of them almost 10 years and yet we the people are still suffering from the Bush/Cheney depression.  Every credible economist now says that the stimulus package was not large enough.  Every credible economist now says that cutting spending will only increase the misery and send the economy into a further tail spin ...... exactly what the Republicants want so they can claim that it's President Obamas fault.  It's a cruel political ploy by the Republicants.  When President Eisenhower (R) was president the top tax bracket was over 90 percent ...... and the economy was just booming.  Then President Kennedy (D) came along closed some tax loop holes and dropped the upper tax bracket to 75% and the economy was still booming.  Everybody was making money.  Then the teflon president came along President Regan (R) lowering the upper tax bracket and the capital gains taxes and ever since then this countrys' middle class has been going to hell in a hand basket.  Oh sure when Slick Willie, President Clintion (D) - really a blue dog Democrat - came into office and raised taxes, this countrys' economy boomed again.  Actually leaving office with a surplus which of course Shrub, President Bush 43 (R) immediately squandered leaving us in the mess we are in today.  Low taxes means low services from the government.  Now even if we were to privatize all of the governmental services we will still need to raise revenues to pay the profiteers for their services after all they aren't going to do theses services for free now are they?

{Political_Views} Netanyahu Urges U.S. Return to 1845 Borders

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

        Jewish Quote

"By the reduction of the Arabs on the one hand and
Jewish immigration in the transition period on the
other, we will ensure an absolute Hebrew majority
in a parliamentary regime."
-- Moshe Sharett

"Netanyahu Urges U.S. Return to 1845 Borders"

Israeli PM calls for "just solution" to end the conflict.

Aboard Air Force Aleph (Reuters) - Speaking to reporters
accompanying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
on his long flight to the United States tonight, Netanyahu
spoke of the injustice and hardship Mexicans have
endured since American forces annexed Texas in 1845.
"Tens of thousands of ordinary Mexicans were driven out
of their homes - the only homes they had known for
centuries - and forced to live in poverty and squalor
south of the border imposed by American aggression,"
Netanyahu said.

"The Israeli and Mexican people agree on this: This
festering wound will never heal until America takes
bold steps to return to the internationally accepted
lines of 1845. Clearly the settlement activity that's taken
place in occupied Mexico since then is illegal. When I
meet the President tomorrow I will tell him to halt all
building activity in Texas immediately. Two lands for
two peoples, yes, but not on land taken by force from
Mexico," the Prime Minister said.

Asked if his hard-line stance could hurt the U.S.-Israel
relationship, Netanyahu reiterated Israel's commitment
to America's security and the unshakeable friendship
shared by the two countries, then added, "But who
was it who said, part of friendship is being able to tell
your friend the truth. The ball is now in Obama's court."

{Political_Views} Verizon Violates Openness Rule, Complaint Alleges

Verizon Ban on 4G Tethering Apps Violates Openness Rule, Complaint Alleges

An activist group asked federal regulators to require Verizon to allow its Android customers to use their 4G smartphones as modems for other devices, citing openness rules the carrier agreed to when it bought the spectrum in 2008.

Ryan Singel, Wired
Against the Rules? No 4G Tethering Apps for Verizon Phones

Tethering -- connecting your mobile phone to some other device for broadband access -- could become the next battlefront at the FCC's Wireless Division. That is, if the FCC listens to a new complaint from Free Press accusing Verizon of limiting consumer tethering choices on the company's LTE mobile phones.

Matthew Lasar, Ars Technica
Complaint to FCC: Verizon Must Not Bar 4G Tethering

An advocacy group has filed a complaint with the FCC that argues Verizon Wireless shouldn't be allowed to block tethering apps that let people connect their computers to the Internet through their phones' 4G wireless data network.

N.J. Public Television to Undergo Name Change, Cuts in Staff

WNET will get federal subsidies to continue running New Jersey programming.

New York Public Radio to Buy New Jersey Stations

New York Public Radio, the owner of WNYC, will acquire four stations from the NJN network, New Jersey's public television and radio broadcaster. New Jersey Gov. An Exit Interview with Bill Kling, Public Radio's Original Entrepreneur

As he prepares to step down from the top of American Public Media, his job for the last 44 years, I recently made the mistake of congratulating Bill Kling on his retirement. News from The Hill:

FCC chairman agrees to strike Fairness Doctrine from rule books
By Gautham Nagesh
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski said his agency will remove the Fairness Doctrine from the rule books in response to a recent request from House Republicans.
"I fully support deleting the Fairness Doctrine and related provisions from the Code of Federal Regulations, so that there can be no mistake that what has been a dead letter is truly dead," Genachowski wrote in a letter Monday to House Energy and Commerce chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.).

{Political_Views} Medicare

"President Obama: If you stand up to the Republican hostage-takers and protect Medicare, we will have your back."

Sign the Petition!
Dear Friend,

President Obama has to decide whether he's going to save Medicare—or whether Republicans will once again get their way by holding the economy hostage.

Democrats in Congress have already taken a strong stand against making any Medicare cuts, but so far the White House has been silent on whether it's willing to compromise with the Republicans' extreme demands.1

Let's send President Obama a message: if he stands up to the Republican hostage takers, we'll have his back.

Republicans have had a lot of success taking the economy hostage and demanding a conservative ideological ransom. And they're at it again—this time over the debt ceiling, which ensures the government doesn't default on its debt.

Normally, this vote is routine, but this time, Republicans are digging in their heels—refusing to vote for the debt ceiling increase—unless their plan to eliminate Medicare is passed.2

But the sand is shifting under the Republicans' feet. They lost in the recent New York special election, which was all about Medicare.3 And their Medicare destruction plan is bombing at the polls.4

The one thing Democrats could do right now to let the Republicans back in the game would be to agree to Medicare cuts. Not only would it betray all the people who rely on Medicare (and all of us who will in the future), it would neutralize any political advantage the Democrats have gained this past month.

Nancy Pelosi is standing strong in the House against any cuts to Medicare.5 But the only way to protect Medicare from Republican attacks is for President Obama to take Medicare cuts off the table during negotiations over raising the debt ceiling.

Can you tell President Obama you'll have his back if he stands strong and doesn't let the Republicans hold the economy hostage to force cuts to Medicare? Click here to sign:

Thanks for all you do.
