{Political_Views} Tell Santorum: It's not "God's Will" that women can't be president

LeftAction

Lots of action in this report:  1) Tell Newt: "Defend" your own marriage, don't deny rights to others;  2) Tell Santorum: It's not "God's Will" that women can't be president.   3) Thank Gabby Giffords for her service;  4) Thank Obama for the Keystone decision;  5) Free webinar: Using viral marketing for advocacy;  6) Win free copy of "Share, Retweet, Repeat", new book from Left Action founder

1)  Tell Newt: "Defend your own marriage, hypocrite!"

In what seems like a piece straight out of The Onion, Newt Gingrich has become the latest GOP candidate to pledge to "defend traditional marriage" by signing the presidential marriage pledge of the National Organization for Marriage (basically, a pledge to oppose same-sex marriage).

In case you're wondering, yes, this is the same Newt Gingrich who has been married three times (hat trick!), admitted infidelity, and who apparently asked his second wife for an open marriage, so he could continue cheating with his mistress. This is the guy who is now pledging to defend marriage against an onslaught of loving couples who actually really do want to be together for life, as opposed to going for a "three-peat."

Tell Newt: "Defend your own marriage, hypocrite!"

2)  Tell Santorum: It's not "God's Will" that women can't be president

Last June, one of Rick Santorum's campaign staffers sent him an email that stated that having a female president would pose a threat to children because it was against God's will "to have a woman rule the institutions of the family, the church, and the state."

It's clear that the notion that children would be harmed by a female president is not only absurd but harmful. Yet, despite calls to do so, Santorum has not denounced the notion that it would be wrong for a woman to be president.

Tell Rick Santorum: The idea that only men should be president is offensive and wrong--denounce your campaign's message immediately.

3) Thank Gabby Giffords for Her Service

Representative Gabby Giffords, a true profile in courage, has announced that she is stepping down from Congress in order to focus on her recovery. Please join us in giving big, big thanks to her for her service to America, and for being an incredible inspiration to people everywhere.

Leave your message at Left Action and we will make sure they are delivered to Congresswoman Giffords' office.

4)  Thank President Obama for the Keystone decision

Congressional Republicans tried to force through an irresponsibly quick decision on the Keystone XL pipeline.  They demanded an up-or-down decision in 60 days, in spite of the high stakes involved for public health and the environment.

And President Obama said "no."  GOOD.

Send President Obama a message today, and thank him for taking this action, and fighting back.  And tell him, "more of this, please!"

5) Free Webinar: Viral Marketing for Activism and Advocacy

I'll be hosting a webinar with Salsa Labs on Thursday, February 2nd, on using viral marketing for activism and advocacy. This should be particularly useful for those who are running their own online activism efforts, or thinking of starting them. The webinar is free, you just need to RSVP if you want to join in. For more info, and to RSVP, click here.

6) Win a Free Copy of Share, Retweet, Repeat (book by Left Action Founder)

"Along with Seth Godin's books, and the great Made to Stick by Chip Heath and Dan Heath, this new online marketing gem -- Share, Retweet, Repeat -- definitely deserves to be on your shelf of really useful books about creative messaging and marketing. You'll read it at one long sitting and then refer to it again and again." - Frogloop

That's what Frogloop, a blog focused on marketing for nonprofits and advocacy organizations, said about my book.  Click over to read the full review, and to learn how you can win a free copy.

Thanks again for your support!

Sincerely,
