If the wealthy don't want to pay as much taxes as they do (as a percentage of the total taxes taken in by the federal government) all they need do is A) quit fighting the workers trying to exercise their rights to form a union B) bring back all the jobs that they've shipped off shore and pay the same pay scale that had been paid when those jobs left America in the first place + whatever increase in pay that would have happened had the jobs not left America at all C) finally pay their workers a pension and health care benefits. If they did this then the bottom 99% would earn more money from their jobs and therefore would pay more taxes and in the end the 99% would be paying a greater percentage of the total taxes taken by the federal government than they presently do today. 'Tis just that simple. That American workers are more productive than they were in 2000 is demonstrably true. However the increase in wages due to the increase in productivity has not kept pace. Since the wealthy believe it's their "due" then they can hardly complain that they have to pay more money in taxes. It seems to me the wealthy believe that the more they make the less they should have to pay in income taxes so in the end they pay the same amount every year - nothing.

That when you EARN LESS you PAY LESS in taxes. Unless of course you are in the upper wealth bracket where when you earn more you pay even less percentage wise (around 12-15% as compared to 30-35% for the average American) due to tax breaks, corporate welfare, so called off shore tax havens.http://economistsview.typepad.com/economistsview/2012/01/should-we-feel-sorry-for-the-wealthy.html
